Terms of service
This is a draft under review and not yet in force.
On this page
These terms are the agreement between you and us for using sketch.house. We have kept them short and in plain words. Where the law gives you, as a consumer, more protection than these terms, the law wins.
Who we are
sketch.house is run by Astur Labs ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@sketch.house.
What the service is
sketch.house is a website where you draw your home to scale, or trace a floor plan you already have, see it in 3D, place furniture in it, and save it as a project. When publishing is available, you can also share a project as a read-only link.
The service is free. A paid plan may come later; it will have its own terms, and nothing you have made on the free plan will be charged for without you choosing a paid plan first.
We are still building sketch.house. Features may change, and we may add, change or remove them. We will tell you in advance about a change that takes something away from you.
Using it without an account, and with one
You can draw and look round your home without an account. What you make then stays in your browser: if you clear the browser's data for this site, it is gone, and we cannot recover it.
With a free account you can save projects on our servers. You sign in with a link we email you, or with Google if you choose to; there are no passwords. Keep access to your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. An account is for one person.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
The free plan's limits
- You can save 1 project at a time.
- A free project is deleted 6 months after you create it. We email you 30 and 7 days before. A deleted project cannot be recovered.
- A project you delete leaves your list at once and is deleted for good 30 days later.
What stays yours
Your drawings, the plans you upload, your projects and the names you give them are yours. We claim no ownership of them.
To run the service, you give us permission to store, copy and process your content, and to show it to you, for as long as it is in your account. When you publish a link, you also give us permission to host it and show it, with its preview image and a "Made with sketch.house" badge, to anyone who opens the link, until you unpublish it or delete the project. This permission is worldwide and free of charge, it lets us do only what is needed to run sketch.house for you, and it ends when you delete the content, apart from copies kept for a short time in backups (see the privacy policy).
We do not use your content to train AI models.
Only upload and publish what you have the right to use. A plan someone else drew, such as an estate agent's or an architect's, may be protected by copyright.
Published links
A published link can be opened by anyone who has it. Before you publish, check that the project's name and contents do not give away your address or anything else you would not want strangers to see. You can unpublish a link or delete the project at any time; the link then stops working.
If you see a published link that breaks these terms or the law, tell us at support@sketch.house with the link and the reason. We will look at it, may take it down, and will tell the person who published it why.
What you must not do
- Break the law, or help someone else break it.
- Upload or publish content that infringes someone else's rights, or that is illegal, hateful, harassing or sexual.
- Publish someone else's personal information, such as their address, without their permission.
- Upload malware, or try to break, overload or get round the security of the service.
- Use automated tools to copy the service or its catalogue, or to create accounts.
- Get round the free plan's limits, for example with several accounts.
- Use published links to advertise or to send spam.
Sizes, prices and products
A drawing is only as accurate as what goes into it. sketch.house is a planning tool, not a survey: check measurements yourself before you buy, build or knock anything down, and do not rely on it for building, structural or legal purposes.
Furniture sizes and prices come from the catalogues they belong to and can be wrong or out of date. We do not sell anything: if you buy, you buy from the retailer, on the retailer's terms. Where a link to a retailer earns us a commission, we say so.
When things go wrong
We work to keep sketch.house running and your projects safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of faults. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.
Ending this agreement
You can stop using sketch.house at any time, and delete your account from the account page. Deleting your account deletes your projects, uploads and published links at once, and cannot be undone.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and we will tell you why, unless the law stops us. If we ever close the service, we will tell you at least 60 days in advance so you can keep what you need.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for example when a feature is added. Each version has a number and the date it applies from. If a change matters to you, we will email you before it applies. If you do not accept the new terms, you can delete your account.
Law and disputes
If something goes wrong, tell us at support@sketch.house and we will try to put it right. As a consumer, you also keep every right that the law of the country you live in gives you.
